Singletrack To Success made it into Forbes!
Singletrack to Success (S2S) is a Carcross/Tagish First Nation (CTFN) project initiated in 2006 with the mandate to develop a world-class network of single-track trails on Montana Mountain, a sacred site of Carcross/Tagish First Nation, while providing local youth with summer job.
“Building a destination one trail at a time.”
CTFN draws inspiration for this project from other rural areas throughout the world that have invested in trails with demonstrable benefits to the economic and social well being of their residents.
Over the years, few generations of youth have created – and keep maintaining – more than 40 km of world class network of mountain biking and hiking trails, qualified of “Epic” in 2011 by the International Mountain Bicycling Association.
This unique job opportunity, reconnects our youth to their land, give them life and work skills, ensuring mountain trails maintenance, and, more importantly, giving youth a sense of pride and recognition of their work throughout the community and visitors appreciation.
In 2018, the S2S crew had been incorporated under the Stewardship program, in order to give the youth new professional tools.
